get a better job and don't work for a vehicle, save your money for school and a house.
Sounds like i need to move to Canada! Minimum wage here is $7.25, and I work with adults who get paid that! Not sure about up there, but around here jobs are TIGHT, very very few, and I live in a resort area. But I'm a hard worker, which is the reason i make $8.50 while I manage adults only making $7.25. I'm going to college next year, which is payed for by my great grandparents smart investing in the stock market. All of my income goes towards my truck and savings.

Where minimum wage is higher the cost of living is higher. Raising minimum wage, raises costs, which offsets the raise in minimum wage.

My father does tell me not to spend it on my truck. But I choose to spend it where I want. I will begin a savings when I get my degree. I make less than 6k a year the way I'm working right now.

Same here. I figure if I have a truck, I might as well use it like one. Plus I like hauling stuff and pulling trailers

My choices were get a truck and pay for it myself, or get some stupid car and pay for it myself too. A truck is much more practical for hunting, fishing, and work

to be fair, there is a grey zone with that, my friends buy cheap cars, and burn through them in a couple months and end up spending far more then i have, even if my truck cost 2-6x more then there car.

now if your working and all your money is going towards a truck payment, thats stupid.

IMO its completely idiotic to buy a $400 car and thinking it will last you more then a couple months.

Young guys that work hard are definitely hard to find now a days, I have to laugh i work as a laborer doing masonry (brick and stone). I'm 19a and we have a CO-OP student that's only a year younger than me. My boss says there's a night and day difference between the two of us in work ethic/ common knowledge. He can't read a tape measure, slow as hell, and can't operate a shovel. Its basically i just want him to get out of my way so i can do everything faster. But he is a good guy though. I think the reason for the difference between him and me is because i grew up in a farming community and he grew up in subdivision in the city.
