How stop truck theft? How much should I worry about it?
Hey, I am concerned about my truck being stolen. How good are the anti-theft factors built into F-150, like the ignition key? Should I add something else? I plan on taking a months long road trip across U.S. Any you use a club? All your advice is greatly appreciated.

If a thief wants something, they will get it. No matter what kind of security you have, it will only DETER the thief...it will NEVER be fool proof security. Just go about your life and keep insurance on it if your worried that much.

I agree! If they want it bad enough, they WILL get it. Lock it when unattended, hide your valuables and park in heavily trafficked, well lit areas. Crime is rampant these days but we can't live our lives in fear of being a victim. Don't let fear ruin your trip!

Besides not leaving anything valuable in the truck and especially not leaving anything in sight of people, you would have to move to another neighborhood where mommas didn't raise no ****** (but I see yours ain't the issue!). F150s can be easily stolen from what I've read, especially using the key fob transmitter... There are videos here proving it.
My friend got his stolen at the airport in Montréal. They found a way to ''hack'' the system, unlocked the doors, started it and left. Technology is a two way street.

I don't worry about anymore than I did when I drove a car. Make sure all valuables (if any) are hidden and the doors are locked before I walk away. Not much more I can do. Most of those locks and security systems only keep the honest people honest and make it so that it isn't the lowest hanging fruit.

When you get out of the vehicle, use the lock button on the door. If you use the fob the code can be stolen if a thief is in your proximity.

I agree with everyone else here....go live life. If it gets stolen, that's what insurance is for. If that were to happen.....I just want the thieves to be good enough that I don't get it back after it has been stolen.....
Use your key fob, take your trip, and go about your day. The only thing I do is keep valuables out of sight.
I travel for work and have accidentally booked hotels in less than desirable areas. Those times, I just park it in a well-lit area and within view of the front desk. If you worry about your tailgate, back into a spot where there is something (tree, sign, wall, etc) behind you that will prevent the tailgate from being lowered.
