How much does your truck weigh?

Stock my vehicle is claimed to weigh GVW 6999 lbs. My truck is a 2006 xlt F-150 Supercrew 2 wheel drive with tow package and bedliner. Now instead of renewing my truck tag on my birthdady it is now done in December, because it is considered a commercial vehicle. 6999 means my truck is 3.5 tons. I do not see how that is possible. The only thing I can think to do is drive through a DOT weigh station on the side of the road, and then what? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Weight

I think you better weigh it and see I have an 09 FX4 super crew 4x4 that only weighs close to 6000 with a full tank of gas.

That sounds like too much weight man. I'd get that checked and put that bad boy on a diet!

I traded my 1995 nissan xe pathfinder in on this f-150 and they gave me $2200.00 on trade in. The weird thing is that blue book was less than a $1000.00 ,but whatever! I can read between the lines. I paid $50.00 to DMV for proof of title to give to dealership on the pathfinder. A few months later I am contacted about retrieving my 95 pathfinder from an impound lot for $$$.

Ohh, by the way. My 2006 2 wheel drive F-150 Screw is claimed to weight 6999 lbs.

How u like them apples???

I scaled my truck in prepartion to carry a camper.

front axle = 3390
rear axle = 2470

total weight = 5860 :)

They must be going be GVWR which is your truck's weight and it's maximum payload.

My GVWR is 7200. So if I subract the truck's weight of 5860 I net 1340 of payload which will handle my 1100 camper.

Yep, subtract your max payload from your GVWR, that is how much your truck weighs.

1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton all mean diddly to the actual vehicle weight.

On the vehicle registration it states GVW:6999 just below that it says weight:6999 Maybe there is an issue with the paper work!

Most likely someone FUBARd the paperwork. Had a similar issue with my '04 STX up here in NY, almost had to register it as a commercial vehicle because someone put the wrong number in the wrong spot on the registration.

My '04 STX 4X4 weighs a touch over 5600 lbs with driver.

Just came back from dumping some construction waste and had to weigh in and out.......on the way out scale read 6116 lbs thats including my fat ass and some snow in the box.....probably about 300lbs total.

Larry Lynn, registration weights are maximum allowable in that class of vehicle, above 6999lbs different permits/licenses may be required.
