How much do you pay for License/Renewal fees?

Hello,

I am in California with a F-150 Super Crew XLT FX4 my renewal is due June 30, 2023 for $685.

How much do you pay in your state? Does it matter based on year/model in your state?

$685??? How many years is that for? I pay $85. for the truck & $45 for each car (I have two). That`s for one year.

$24 for a year although the State took out its registration fee for 1 year so it was $8.44 last time
Leased Vehicle Fee: $0.00
Registration Fee: $5.25
County Wheel Tax: $0.00
City Wheel Tax: $0.00
Mailing Fee: $2.00
Processing Fee: $0.19
Online Fee: $1.00
Total Amount: $ 8.44
BTW, 1 more reason I left Commiefornia

$369/year

Also in Ca. Mine is a twelve year old 2011. With more than ten years ownership the State has fully depreciated its value. Beginning point for valuation in 2011 was purchase price of 20.5% below list. Likely a lower starting point in valuation. My registration will not ever go lower until I move out of State.

Hope not to ever purchase another new vehicle here in the State of California. We pay full sales tax on purchase plus weight, license, & registration fees that add approx 10%+ in Blue Sky money.

That is 1 year for a pickup first sold in late 2019 (2020 model year). Although it was first registered in California in June, 2021 when I bought it as a CPO. July 1, 2023-June 30, 2024

For reference the breakdown is:
$275 Registration Fee
$273 License Fee
$80 Weight Fee
$0 Special Plate fee (I am not paying for personalized plates or a specific special interest plate like "Keep Tahoe Blue")
$10 County/District Fee
$0 Owner Responsibility Fee
$20 Smog Abatement Fee.

When I left Illinois in 2020 the vehicle registration cost was $101/year (now $151). I currently reside in Arizona and they base a majority of an individual's vehicle registration cost off a percentage of the original msrp. Once they establish the registration cost, it is reduced by 16.25% each year. It has been done this way for decades. Had I originally purchased the vehicle new in Arizona back in 2016, the cost would have been in the ballpark of $600 (including new title, registration and all fees).

These are the registration costs incurred for 3 years in Arizona. It should be noted that Arizona fees vary each year making historical calculations difficult.

2024: 153.18 *Future registration cost provided by AZMVDNOW website.
2023: 181.46
2022: 214.50
2021: 257.91 *Approximate as I cannot completely view original breakdown of costs separated from new title, driver's license and other fees on the AZMVDNOW website.

**Hypothetical annual registration costs if the vehicle had been purchased new in Arizona**

2020: 307.95
2019: 367.70
2018: 439.04
2017: 524.23

There are many states that involve a calculation to determine a vehicle's annual registration costs. In these states, the annual registration costs generally go down with each successive annual renewal. In Arizona, it is costly to buy an expensive new or newer vehicle as the registration calculation can be very costly. The older, more depreciated the vehicle, the cheaper annual registration costs will be.

As in vehicle registration?

WV is roughly $60-70 a year with a one or two year option.

we pay property taxes, so we pay a percentage of assessed value on property to include vehicles.

kenv47 05-27-2023 09:06 PM

Yeah, good ole property tax. I pay;
$4,300 school tax. We are retired & have had no children in school since the `90`s
$1,300 township tax. That`s for trash, lights, fire/police. I can see the value of this tax.
All this is in addition to vehicle registration & yearly safety/emissions testing.

We used to get a yearly license plate sticker & an actual registration card from the state. Now they did away with the sticker, but still charge us as if we got one. The registration is printed out on the owner`s home computer.
