How Hot does the Ecoboost run under the hood?
Hey guys, I apologize in advance for the stupid question but how hot do the ecoboost engines run? My 2014 when I lift the hood gets so hot to the touch when I don’t even floor it or drive that far. I rode a couple miles down the street and lifted my hood and even the engine cover is so hot to the touch. I ordered a OB2 dongle so I can get the exact temps but man, it just seems really hot. Hotter than normal. No engine lights and the dash temps never went above the mid point but I’m just getting a little worried. Today I seen some condensation dripping when I close my door and my engine was so hot I can hear it fizzling as it comes down.

Just wait til summer. Seems OK if the gauges don't show hot.

If you have a laser temperature meter, take a reading of the center of the hood after a 15 minute drive or something. I have a 5.0 and I will take mine if you want to compare temps.
Just just do it at night in the dark, tell me the approx outside temp and I'll do mine for a comparison.

On my 2013 Max Tow Eco I had aa Edge Monitor which you can monitor exact cooling temp and many other functions of your truck. One I chose was timing. Fords computer will save your engine and anytime I was climbing or towing the timing would go back sometimes to zero advance and always lower with added boost. This made for HEAT and more than I wanted. 240 was normal and I got in the habit of backing off until I saw at least 10 degrees advanced. At 40K I sold it and bought a 5.0. No more turbos for me.
