I have a similar set up with a swagman patrol bar across the front (holds 3 MT bikes with an additional adapter), plus a Yakima Beddyjo rack that is held in place when the tailgate closes (picked up used for $40, holds 2 MT bikes directly in the bed). Three bikes forward and two bikes backwards.

Nice thing is that I can use 99% of my truck bed and only need to throw in the Beddyjo when the kids are coming with us (take 2 minutes). Plus, I can just roll my bikes (with front wheel off) into the bed and attach them vs having to lift them all up onto a rack like the original poster has.

Lateral bars are Yakima Bedrock. This is one of the most clever, robust and easiest system to use in a truck bed.

The five bike racks are a mix of Thule Circuit and Yakima Forklift.

I agree for the ease of use of your setup. If I wouldn’t need the bottom space, I would do something similar to your setup. In my case, I need to bring the five bikes only during camping trips...which come with BBQ, firewoods, water tanks, etc. Hence the need to pack
things under the bikes.

Depend of the needs ...

Unfortunately for me, my bike are too damn big to fit like that. In order for me to fit 5 of mine, I need to use a tailgate pad. I can't even fit mine in (on, or on top even) bed with the tailgate up with the front wheel removed. Granted, I ride XL's but even that being said, the bikes I ride are huge (XL SC Megatower, XL Giant Trance 29, XL Kona Sutra, XL Giant Revolt etc etc).

Bike transport is my biggest bummer on my 15' Screw. I upgraded from a 15' gmc canyon and that was a pita to carry bikes, this f150 is better, but not really by all that much.

I can fit 5 IN the bed. This is only 4, but a fifth will fit in there...with the tailgate up...and a backflip MX4 fitted.

Do the front tires HAVE to be removed? Seems like a PITA.
