Love it! Did you ever see the Seinfeld episode where Kramer went on the test drive and ran it out of gas? It was one of the few episodes I ever saw but that was pretty funny.

I believe the low fuel light comes on with 2 gallons of fuel left, so to be conservative I would say 30 miles, much more than that and you will be walking.

I'll add. Making a habit of driving until the light comes on is not a good idea. I've never seen mine. Long before the light comes on, with 5 or more gallons of gas still in the tank, it is possible for the engine to stop if the truck isn't on level ground All the gas runs to the front, or rear, of the tank and will may not be picked up by the fuel pump. This is true of all vehicles, but some seem more prone than others. Based on what I see this isn't uncommon with the 36 gal tank.

I read 3 gallons remaining. In any case if the light comes on its time to buy gas now!
Remember , being lost on a highway is relative to how much gas remains in your tank.
At 1/2 tank it isn't possible to be lost.

Plus the Gasoline is still the coolant for the fuel pump.

I’ll never understand why people let their tanks run so low. It costs the same to keep it full as it does to keep it empty. There are a lot of benefits to keeping the tank full which has been mentioned.
