Default How do I move a queen mattress set with a F-150?

Hi everybody,

I'd like to rent a F-150 to move a queen size mattress and box spring from NYC to Boston. A queen is 60"x80".

Will it fit if I lay it down on top of the wheel wells with the tailgate open? Or is 60" too wide to fit flat like that?

a queen size mattress fits in my short box f150 no problem - I don't think you have to think too hard about it man. Throw it in the back and if it doesn't quite fit - you're a guy and will think of something

Rent truck.
Put mattresses in truck.
Apply rope where needed.
Drive truck.

Honestly it just depends on the size of the truck bed you get. Short bed, I wouldn't count on it being a perfect fit.

i remember i had to measure my tailgate for something and it was like 64in.s wide so that means the bed is wider than that so it should sit flat in there then if its too long just tie it down some.

Tie it down regardless... I've seen a lot of mattresses on the side of the road.

I got a queen box spring and mattress home from the store on top of my Lumina. The guy pulls out twine and I pulled out ratchet straps. Idiot!

Might have to hang one of those orange flags off the back if it was in a 5.5ft supercrew!

if you can, a 250 or 350 is a bit wider if need a closer to perfect fit. just get one with a v-8 gas if you can, if not i think a powerstroke would get better gas mileage then a v-10, but maybe it will fit. i moved a queen and it fit diagonally, but it was too long because i have a toolbox. but i didnt go over 40 because it was just across town. TIE IT DOWN.

Pretty much, it was the pillow top and it was super tall. I only drove 1.5 miles at 10 mph but it wasn't going anywhere.

A flag is not required unless the object sticks more than 3-4 feet off of the back of the vehicle.
