Default How can ppl afford lift kits and wheels

I'm not rich and not poor but how the heck can people afford a lift.the lift alone is like $1700 plus $ 2500 for wheels and tires and then they charge like $1000.i have a decent job and pay but it will take me forever to get it.i need some help on how people did it.did you buy it little by little or did you save up and got it at once.it may sound dumb but I'm trying to figure out how I can get a lift and wheels myself asap

Credit card? Loan? Sell a child? Second mortgage? Gigilo? I am not sure I understand your post fully. Be patient, buy one component at a time.

You need to budget things, set money aside, and sneak purchases past your wife.

Budget.
Live well within my means.
Haggle.
Barter.
Trade work.

Got a great deal on my driveway because I had an old truck the concrete guy really wanted.

Got most of my landscaping in trade for furniture I made.

Be creative and avoid unnecessary debt.

Good luck.

Budget is key. I have always lifted my trucks HIGH! This truck I decided to keep it reasonable with a leveling kit. I told my wife when I bought it I would no longer use my job money to mod my truck. I'm a mechanic on the side and the money I make off those jobs is what feeds my passion for modifying trucks. Have a job next week that will fund my custom longbars traction bars and half of the F150lifts.com coilovers with 2" rear block and 5100s in the rear I plan to get.

I can afford it
But don't want it

I just purchased a new King Ranch
Why would I want or need to spend thousands on wheels and suspension, when I just paid Ford for these components as part of my new truck.

Disclaimer: no disrespect to those who have mod fever.

I put a level in mine and rear air bags. Cost me $700 which is about all I wanted to spend. IMO these trucks are enough money without dumping $thousands more into them for personal satisfaction, which is all it is, because even with the mods, they still depreciate every day until they are worthless scrap.

Not saying I wouldn't like a rancho 4" and some beefier rubber, but I have other hobbies.

No lift for me - just some nicer wheels and tires. I watched CraigsList until I found a good deal on used wheels and tires. Now I run the stock ones in the winter and the nicer ones in the summer.
