Default Horrible MPH 2007 4.6 85K

I recently bought a used 2007 4.6L LB for my landscaping business. It only had 82,000 on it when I purchased it. Over the past few months my average MPG is between 7.9 - 12.3. The most recent tank was 7.9, the worst to date. I looked back the the history of the truck and it looks like it was used primarily on the highway.

Before I start to invest money into what's going on or how fix it, does anyone have suggestions of what to do/look into?

Thanks!

You will get lower MPG when towing, less with an enclosed vs open trailer.

Check the usual suspects first...air cleaner (is it dirty?)
Replace the fuel filter.
Pull a spark plug and see how it looks.
Get a can of Seafoam or Lucas Total fuel system cleaner and add it to the tank (I prefer either of these, go with what you trust).
Check out tune up videos on YouTube and see what else can be checked.

Pay attention to your driving habits....fast starts and stops will have an impact on fuel economy. Stop and go traffic and city driving will too.

I have an '02 SCrew with 140k, split between city and highway driving, getting 15-17 MPG back and forth to work. Got 19 on a road trip before I had a tune up done, getting 21-22 on the highway at the speed limit (65) and 17-18 at 70+ MPH.
