I have to agree with every1, "Ole Faithful" has 239k on the clock, has been through all the cousins, back & forth to college. Saved the ole girl from being a parked & forgotten about in Grandmaw's barn... Sat for over a year, hooked up terminals & fired the 1st time. Drove it 100 miles the very first trip back on the road & she never even fluttered!!! Can't say more good things about the machine! Basic bolt on upgrades, routine maintenance, & she's loves to be driven like she was just stolen! The latest addition (or should I say subtraction was i pulled the borla mufflers & welded in straight pipe just to sound her off & let every1 know she's taken a lickin & is still kickin as strong as ever!! I'm torn between, parking her & giving her some long over due TLC, or just "gas n goin'" her to see how much I can get out of her! I'd love to hot rod her, but I also think it would neat to keep her alive to pass her down to my son as his first! Then again, what full blooded American boy wouldn't love a Rod as his 1st!! Kinda keeps the tradition alive for future Generatikn rodders'!! Anywho, sorry to be so long winded! U guys R great, the sight is great, & most importantly the 4.6 is GREAT!! Look forward to hearing from U guys!!

Default Driving 4.6 V8 manual since 97.

Drove it off the lot in 97. It's now at 267,473 miles. Still no problems with engine and still on original clutch that doesn't slip. The driver's seat is starting to rip though.

Drove assorted 4.6 CVPI patrol cars for almost 20 years. Rarely an engine related problem, and those cars were run hard.

One agency ran 12,000 mile oil changes with synthetic oil and never had an oil related engine problem.

Been driving a 2003 ford 4.6 van at work for about 7 years now. Has about 130,000 miles. Van drives well and I do enjoy driving it.

Heard Ford discontinued the 4.6 V8 for the F150. What a waste.

RESURRECTION!

I've always 4.6's were dead reliable, especially the 2V. 3V slightly less so just because of the more complicated valvetrain.

A 4.6 2v is probabaly fords longest lasting V8 I kid you not. I ran my stock 97 mustang gt to 265,000 miles and it was still going strong but I wanted the Pi platform before I boosted it..
