Hi,
I have a 2016 3.5 ecoboost and wondering how well the engine will hold up long term.

My 2008 5.7 hemi ram has a little over 200k miles on it and I've never had any problems with it. Never seen a check engine light and it will still smoke the tires off.

Anyone know if I can expect the same from the 3.5 ecoboost?

This depends on...
How you drive it. Hard use and abuse reduces longevity.
Mods: a tune, lifts, levels, bigger tires, all put more strain on the engine.
Service: Using recommended oil and service intervals are important, but doesn't make up for abuse.
Luck: some things may just break or someone run a red light

Treat it right and there is no reason why you shouldn't expect 250,000 miles.

Dodge didn't have engine issues like Ford. I had two Rams and both were the most flawless trucks I've ever owned. Ford, on the other hand, seems to have a real problem with both the EcoBoost and Coyote engines, especially in the early runs (11-12). It seems like most of those issues are starting to be resolved though, so I would expect that you could get a lot of mileage out of either if you stay on top of maintenance.

With the EcoBoost in particular, since it's direct injection and forced induction, I would change the oil on a very strict schedule and use a good synthetic that'll help keep carbon build up down to a minimum.

I had the exact opposite experience with Dodges. Two of the biggest POS's I've ever owned. Things spent more time in the shop than they did the driveway. I'm banking on my '13 lasting me to 200k. I don't drive a ton but I would love to get a long long life out of this thing.

Appreciate it guys. I love the 3.5 EB so far, it's my first EB engine. Also someone mentioned to me Ford has beefed up the newer EB engines, don't know if that's true or not.

I have a 2011 the first year ecoboost and have not had any major problems. I have had to do things like have fuel system cleaned. And had that break booster problem they put in the news about a month or so ago. I am very happy with is and would buy a new one in a heart beat. Not bey many miles yet but I am fully expecting to have it until 200,000 miles.

I have a 2012 ecoboost and now have 100600 miles on it with no issues so far. I have had the P0299 code pop up on my 3 times now but that is the only issue I have had. I do service it regularly with good oil and I don't beat the crap out of it so I also expect it to last quite some time.

Don't thrash it and do all the preventative maintenance. There's no reason why modern engines cant do 200k+.

I have a 2011 F-150 3.5 Ecoboost with timing chain failure issues
This is getting to be a big problem for Ford with the years going by and customers getting 80 to 90K on their trucks. We do regular maintenance with Mobil 1 and Motocraft filters.

I had this issue since 83K brought back to dealership they flashed computer the first time. Then back at 86K the second time and was told:
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON - SEE ATTACHED NOTE
TEST FOR CODES, P0016:00-EC PCM CRANKSHAFT
POSITION CORRELATION BANK 1 SENSOR A
P0172:00-68 PCM SYSTEM TOO RICH BANK 1
CHECK FOR TSB - REFER TO 15-0044
PRIMARY TIMING CHAIN WEAR
FORD WILL NOT HELP TOWARDS REPAIR.

Now at 96k I cannot even drive it. It runs so ruff I am afraid it will blow up. I have written several letters to Ford and this is the latest response received today.
