Default Help with Window Rattle!

I'm writing to plead for advice on a 2023 F-150 driver's side window rattle. First time F-150 owner, I purchased my certified F-150 in August of 2025. Been a great purchase and I had no plans of trading for anything else. However, after today's experience, I'm hoping a few proud Ford owners will convince me to back away from the ledge. Over the winter (cold and windy in the Midwest), I noticed the driver's side window really chatters. The Ford dealership that I was working with asked me to drop it off on the way to work on one of the mornings that the window was acting up. Finding a cold and windy morning in Iowa is easy, right? Unfortunately, driving out of my way to drop it off, and keeping my job, is a big ask. As many of you can agree, it's not a reasonable way to solve the problem. I understand it's difficult to provide a diagnosis if it's not rattling, but it's a window, how many solutions could there be? The best that I could do was present the service advisor with 3 videos documenting the problem. Not good enough for warrant work. Frustrated, I called a different Ford dealership a few weeks ago to take a crack at it. Today was my appointment. This dealership participates in the pick up and delivery service. Great, right?!?!? The team grabbed my truck at 9:30 this morning, just as they promised. I communicated with the customer service rep when I booked the appointment that I would need my truck back by 3:15. What could go wrong? Funny you should ask... The service advisor and I traded text messages throughout the morning. I communicated to him that the rattle occurs when it's cold and windy, neither of which were in the forecast today. But I wasn't worried because I was assured by the customer service rep (when I scheduled my appointment) that the technicians had special tricks to recreate the problem. I also sent 1 of the videos that I had recorded a few months ago. Shortly after 12:30 this afternoon, I reminded the service advisor that I needed my truck back by 3:15. Well, 3:15 rolled around and my truck was still in the parking lot at the dealership. Needing to get to an appointment of my own, I called the dealership. The service advisor claimed he didn't know about my request. He also broke the news that the problem couldn't be replicated. So much for the special tricks... He assured me the delivery team would get it out to me asap. 15 minutes later, it was still parked. Finally, I noticed that my truck was on the move. I walked outside to wait. It's a good thing that I did because the delivery folks, the same crew who picked my vehicle up, drove right by my building. So, back on the phone to the dealership. The young lady I spoke to said she could text them and that I should be patient, people make mistakes. Oh boy, not what I wanted to hear. But, what could I do? I continued to wait. Finally, after almost driving past the driveway, and they probably would have had I not run toward the street yelling and waving my arms, they pulled in. The driver left my truck running, observing that I was packed up and ready to leave. Very thoughtful. She proceeded to jump in the delivery van and off they started... until my horn started honking. Yep, she still had my keys in her pocket. Folks, I can't make this up! So here I sit, wondering how I can get the window rattle fixed before my warranty expires (in 2 months or 3000 miles). I would really appreciate any advice!

GopherHawk - Here's a couple of things you can check yourself that don't take very long. Hopefully one of these will solve your issue:

1. Taken a look at you window seal/gasket along the B pillar and around the window. Given that you live in Iowa, I assume that the humidity is rather low. As a guy, you know that things tend to shrink when they get cold. Lack of humidity can cause the rubber to dry up and become brittle, causing it to lose the ability to give a good seal when the window is up. This is most likely your culprit. If it is, stick a piece of a t-shirt inside the window track and try to do it in a manner to put a little pressure on the window to help seal it up until you can get the dealership to order a new window gasket.

2. Remove the door panel and check to ensure there aren't any connectors not secured and flopping around on the inside door panel Also, ensure the internal window guide is in good condition. The plastic these parts are made of tend to take on the consistency of a potato chip after years of baking inside the door.

3. Spray some silicone on the felt track that the window slides through when opening.

4. Last one, check the weather stripping/door seal gasket and the door alignment/ door latch striker plate. If the door isn't in that perfect shut position, all matters of rattles could be possible.

Really appreciate the feedback Lariat owner. Gives me some information to take to the Dealership, although I'm having a difficult time finding a competent one!

I was thinking about Jimmyjohn26's post, and I am thankful he/she took the time to respond to my question. But it left me wondering, why would I try all of those potential fixes, isn't that why I paid up for a certified vehicle? Isn't that the job of the Ford techs to solve the issue? As a first time Ford owner, I'm not used to the poor service that I'm currently receiving. I always felt like the GM Dealership (my Traverse had 260,00 miles when I sold it) and Toyota Dealership (wife's Highlander currently has 160,000 miles) made an effort to keep the customer happy. As you can read by the miles mentioned above, we generally take care of and keep our vehicles.

Here is one of the videos. Imagine this noise in your left ear for 3 hours.

If you put some pressure on the rubber surround that attaches the window guide to the truck does it stop?

A couple of times this past winter I had a noise from my window, though not quite like yours, and the cause is the rubber surround will shift away from the door frame creating a small gap for air to get through the window. With the vibration of the window it causes the air to fluctuate. To resolve it I reseated the rubber surround. It has not returned now that we have warmed up. I suspect the part needs replacing but since the odds of the dealer hearing/finding it are minimal I figured it wasn't worth taking it in and have decided I'll handle it myself if it occurs again next winter.

Might be a non starter in your case but cleaning rubber seals on windows, sunroofs etc then applying Silicone grease usually solves rattlly seal problems

LyteFly, I took a look at the thread that you linked, thank you for working to find it. I was so focused on the inside of the door, I failed to consider the weather stripping on the outside. After looking at it, I 100% believe that the outer weather stripping is the problem. I wonder how difficult it is to replace?
