Default Help with Wheel/Tire Questions

Ok I have been trying to read through the hundreds of threads on these topics but I feel like I'm in information overload mode. So hopefully you guys can help me get straight answers for a couple basic questions.

I have a 2012 Platinum SCrew 5.5" 4WD.

I'm putting on the 3/1" leveling kit.

I want to run 35's on it. Specifically, had planned on buying the Nitto Trail M/T because I loved them on my old trucks. Any issues there with rubbing, etc?

Will my stock Platinum 20's fit the 35x12.5x20 tire or do I need to buy new wheels as well? I plan on getting new wheels but if I don't have to have them right now, I'll wait a few months so my wife doesn't shoot me with buying them both at once. :P

Thanks all.

the nittos run wider than they are advertised... check their website it says something like just under 13.5" wide. I'd imagine you would rub on the control arms with the stock backspacing

just a side note... 3" is too much IMO. if your 4wd, you can still clear 35's with anything over 2" i know i have the previous body style but the suspension hasn't changed until 14 and with my 3" level, i rip cv boots, my tie rods are at extreme angles, and my upper control arm contacts the coil at full droop.

2.5" is the max i'd go from my experience and reading other's experiences on here

Thanks I'll do some reading on it tonight. I bought the 3/1' that was recommended on here a year or so ago when I got my truck. It's been sitting in the box in my closet since then.

Good news, I opened up the kit I had bought last year still in the box and it's actually the Autospring 2.5/1" kit.

LOL so true. I had a Tundra before my F150. I started with putting 33's on it, then I put a level kit, then a 4" lift, then went to a 8" and 37's.

haha... souds pretty much like my cherokee...first the biggest tires i could stuff without a lift... then a 3" with 32's (i know that sounds small but looked big on the cherokee)... then a 5.5 with 35's at which point i bought an f150 and started the game over.

I'm running 295 70 18 (34...")Trail Grapplers on my 2012 FX4. Granted, I am running an aftermarket wheel but it has a +20mm offset. They have zero rub and I have the AS 2" level with the taller block in the rear- I presume 1". Factory wheels have a +44mm offset so you should be fine as long as the tire fits on the rim. The Trails are great for a MT performance and look wise. The only downside is they made my truck rattle like an old Chevy with the combination of WV roads and their 10 ply construction. The door panels rattle pretty badly. But, its a truck and I caused it. Would definitely buy the tires again. On my setup, I don't have much more room before trimming plastic. Even so, it would be minimal with a true 35".
