Default Help with truck decisions.....

So I'm stuck on a decision. I asked my girlfriend to help me decide and she doesnt know nor does she really care.
Im looking for a truck to replace my mustang since I dont see it as practical.

Im lookin at trucks and am liking how the 04+ look. I need a 4x4 and Idk about which cab I should get.
Mostly the truck will be used for camping and towing a camper and supplies. I start college in about a year after this summer.*
Im selling my mustang for 4-5k and am using the $ I make from basic for a downpayment. So hopefuly Ill have roughly 10k$ give or take a 1000.
Ive noticed with the 01-03 I can get supercrew and 4x4 together. However Itd be with 120k+ miles. For an 04+ itd be around 80k miles and Id have to pick between scab 4x4 or screw 2wd.
is 2wd okay for offroading? I plan to do it 3xs a month.
Im needing a reliable vehicle and DONT want to have to drop 5k for a new engine which is why im iffy on the 01-03s.
I dont have a kid, nor do I plan to for atleast 5 years.
My budgets around 18k$. Ill roughly have 200$ monthly payments when I finance 5 years hopefuly(trying to build credit with this to).

If your even considering off roading I would buy 4x4. The last thing I would want would be to get stuck hauling a camper down trail and get stuck. I would look for a 5.4 with a 3.73 gear ratio

If I was u I would go to a car sight and put in 4x4 f150 and go from there. Try to get the Lowest miles you can find.
