Help I need advise
I need advise on trading for a new truck of replacing the engine and transmission in the one I have, I pull a 7500 lb camper a few times a year. My 5.4 triton ( and transmission) is about to die. The truck handles fine with the load but hills are a challenge. I am wondering about an engine and transmission from a lightning to gain a little extra power. What all would be about involved in swapping it. If I do a replace the engin I am going to rebuild it so it I’ll be like new when I get it done. Or should I just get a 3/4 ton truck.

A new truck will pull your trailer, I had a 15' F350 6.2 gas, I pulled a 7400# trailer, -0- issues, couldn't even tell the trailer was there.
I honestly got tired of doing swaps and trying to bring things up to snuff, hoping that would be the fix, most of the time those things never worked for me, YMMV.

I’d say a lighting power train might be hard to find. Can you afford a newer truck. If you can I’d go that route. If not just swap in another stock engine.

pay attention to payload ratings tho. If your TT is 7700lbs loaded, you'll want a F150 with a payload of 1800lbs or better. But an F150 could definitely, power-wise, tow your TT without issue.
If you replace the 5.4, you'll still have the power struggles, but it's definitely a cheaper option by a long shot.

Ok, I want to know where these hills are in Florida LOL.....anyway I dont think you really want a performance engine, torque probably in wrong range to be useable. Maybe the trade thing is in your future before the trans goes.
