Default Hello and Ford Maintenance Plan

Hello. I bought a new 2011 Ford F150 XLT last night. This is my first Ford and F 150. I am thrilled to get it and have waited a long time. I bought the v6 without the eco boost. I felt better about the longevity of the engine without the turbos' Anyway, I was offered a maintenance plan from Ford for the first 75,000 miles they cover all maintenance for $1700. I like using dealer service during the warranty period so it kept everything easy. Even though I don't have to use dealer maintenance its easier. Wondered what your thoughts are?

Lots of opinions on extended warranties.
Some guys wouldn't be without, some think they are a rip off.
Extended warranties are a big profit maker for dealers.
(take that for what it is worth)
If you enjoy the peace of mind, don't second guess yourself.
You have a nice truck that I'm sure you will enjoy for years
Congrats and good luck!

The OP is speaking of the maintenance plan, not the extended warranty.

Oil changes, filters, tire rotations, lubing, maintenance stuff.

The maintenance plan does add additional coverage to "wear" items, not covered by the 36,000 mile factory warranty.

Brake pads, wipers, rotors, belts and topping off all fluids will be covered until 75,000 miles.

I got the maintenance warranty on my wife's 2011 escape. That way she can just take it to the dealer and I don't have to mess with it. I how ever only paided 500 for it, it covers it for 7 years. Congrats on the new truck you will love it more and more each day.

My bad, didn't read closely.
Should have read "maintenance plans are a big profit maker for the dealerships"
Although the math seems prey simple.
If one thinks they will spend more on maintenance during coverage than thr plan costs.
Don't forget to add the interest if you are financing.

If you set down and do the math you will find that $1700 is just to much. Goober is right (he always is)........

I was offered one by my dealer at a lower price, and I still couldn't see the value of the thing.

the value is piece of mind down the road so paying an extra 20 bucks a month worth the good warm fuzzy felling if your engine decides to explode on you... but that might just be the fire....

Collector, ric was talking about the maintenace plan. Oil changes and the like. I do agree that if he was talking about the extended warranty, that warm fuzzy is worth the extra 20 a month sometimes.

Ric, you were talking about the oil changes and stuff, right?

I bought the maintenance plan too. There are just too many things that can go sideways with these new tech heavy trucks.
I've spent hundreds of hours on, in and under vehicles. I'm sure I saved some money but I had to buy tools, parts, cleaning agents, drain pans, etc.
I have no way of diagnosing computer problems, glitches, "sometimes it does this..." BS.
Now I'll take it to the dealer and they will fix it and warranty it.
