Headlight bulbs - What's the best / brightest?

Here you go. I got mine from Amazon. Took about 10 minutes to install. Then I had to wait until dark to rotate them to find the sweet spot.

I've had Philips Xtreme Visions in the past, and for a halogen bulb, I was quite surprised on how well they worked. On the topic of retrofits, several people on here have them. Some have done it themselves, and some (like myself) have payed to have them built. If you plan on doing it yourself, I suggest going with the Morimoto MH-1 7.0 projectors. Very easy projector to work with, and and have some of the best performance you can get considering its and H1. There are better projectors, but they require cutting unlike the H1's. If you dont want to have to worry about shroud trimming, then the mini gatlin is your choice. Quality retrofits aren't the cheapest thing by any stretch of the imagination, but they are meant to provide the best lighting available on the market today.
To close it all out, never, NEVER go with a plug and play HID or LED kit. Most of the time the quality is crap, and the issue of blinding glare, and decreased night time vision. This is due to the design of a halogen housing not being able to properly focus and project the light proplerly. So, take it from me and several others. The plug and play LED and HID kits are a 100% absolute waste of time and money.

Where did you purchase yours from? Is there a write up on how to do it yourself?

I have a 2013 Ford f150 fx4 with the factory halogen bulbs. I do alot of highway and night time driving and I find the stock halogen bulbs to be really crappy and dim. I've had the sylvania bulbs but didn't see an improvement. Or if anyone knows of a better bulb I can just buy to replace the stock one's. PIAA have some nice bright white bulbs but would like to get some input before dishing out the cash to buy them....
Dad has replaced his with Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's, but to be honest - I didn't notice a difference when I drove his truck on Christmas Eve.
I've noticed this as well. I can only adjust my housings horizontally, but what would be really helpful is vertical adjustment. Can this be fixed without new headlights?
Agreed. Buy bulbs based on lumen output. My Hella fog lights are brighter at 55W than my stock low-beam headlights. Can anyone tell us what lumens the PIAA extreme white put out? All I can find is the Kelvin Rating.

My dad and I have the same problem on our '10s. The stock halogen bulbs are shiite. A quick google search says they only put out 1100 lumens.

Go brighter over whiter. The white light is nice, but vision is more important. A perfect comparison are zXe bulbs vs Philips Xtreme Visions. zXe bulbs are whiter, but Philips are brighter. Had both. Philips were only 30 a pair new.

On my '02 Grand Marquis, Even thou I've had the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras, and have really liked them, I thought I would give the Philips Xtreme Vision bulbs a try. Got a set from Ebay for about $35.00/free shipping. I did a good job of cleaning the headlights. Used some Meguire's paint cleaner. Then used some Mothers Power Plastic lense polish. Drivers side did good, but passenger side is hopeless. I had a set of Sylvania Extra Vision bulbs laying around. Forget what I had them in, but they fit in the Merc.. Just the cleaning and adding those made a huge improvement...Plus aiming them, Lol. The mew headlight housings and bulbs should be here early next week. I'll take comparison pics as I do the upgrades. Both with the old and new housings. And I'm gonna but the old bulbs back in to add to the mix. Instead of cluttering this thread up anymore, I'll probably open up a thread on the subject.
These pics are from Feb. '14. The headlights still look about the same. It's hard to see in these pics, but the lenses are cloudy, especially the passenger side.
