I only buy off the lot vehicles. My last 2 f150s all had the HDPP. Not easy to find but they are there. My dealer didn't have any on his lot so he checked the nearby dealers to swap with. He found 4 brand new ones out there sitting on the lots. 1 XL and 3 XLT's. All 4 are crew cabs 4x4's , 3 with the front bucket seats and a both the 5.0 and ecoobost.
So they are out there sitting on lots. But most dealers don't like to swap for them. Just have to find one that does.
Sticker is 50,000 so now I'm debating between that or a crew f250 6.2 4x4 XLT equipped even more for only $2,000 more. I f get one off their lot it would be the same price. Cash deal.

And that's in the 25 mile radius of the dealership. There are 14 new HDDP crew cabs mostly xlts in the 50 mile radius sitting in the Ford lots.

What is HDDP?

Heavy Duty Payload Package

Adds ~800 lbs of payload (higher GVWR), only available (as of 2019 MY) on XL and lower two XLT trims.

It used to be called the light f250 years ago. Like on my 2013 crew 4x4 it has a payload of 2250 lbs. If you just got a regular f150 the payload was anywhere from 1,100 to 1,800lbs. Couple of things are different to raise the payload compared to a regular one. Pretty much if you carry a lot or if you tow a lot with a heavy trailer is the only reason why you would get it.

Are you not willing to drive that 25 to 50 miles farther to get what you want?

I have more questions than answers. I'm not clear, does the HDPP come with both the 5.0 and 3.5EB?

At the same price, or close to it. I'd be real tempted to go with the F250 and 6.2 gas engine. I just like the LOOK of the newer 4X4 F250's with the old school "highboy" look The biggest thing holding me back right now is that my current F150 Screw 4X4 with the 5.0 will get darn near 20mpg if I drive carefully. And I don't personally need to tow more than my truck will pull. Although there is a real possibility of needing to do so in the future. From what I'm hearing 15 mpg hwy is probably the best I could hope for with a 6.2 in an F250. And possibly closer to 13 mpg.

But IIRC the HDPP comes with 3.73 gears and with the other modifications will already take a hit in fuel mileage. There may not be a huge difference between the 2.

I currently get 18 maybe 19 empty if I'm luck on the highway with my current f150 HDPP. The heavier LT tires and 3.73 rear hurt the mpg. A F250 would be only 1 or 2 mpgs less.

Fuelly indicates it's dreaming to think a 6.2 250 would be 1-2 less

^ There's a lot of F250 owners that do claim 14-17mpg average. /shrug

That's pretty impressive. But I would have to go for one of the rare 4.38 gear configs. :)
