Anyone thought about putting a fire and ice bar under there tailgate. 2 birds 1 stone... Great mod more light in reverse (our stock reverse lights suck), and a better overall nighttime visibility...

Considered it because there is no 3rd brake light on 9th gen's. I have fog lights as reverse lights already but the more the merrier. If I were to however, I would mount it in a piece of angle iron to protect it from any debris falling in the tail gate crack. Some how fit so the tailgate itself doesn't rub that angle iron.
Those bars look better on newer trucks IMO though, I'd have to see one on an older one.

Thanks for posting this, never heard of that bar before now but probably will be buying it for my truck! Just need to make sure I can get a splitter for the trailer lights since it uses the trailer light plug and I also tow a boat. Could always just disconnect it when towing the boat I guess.

Shoulda been more specific. the later ones do, the earlier ones like mine just have a cargo light there. Is yours burnt out or is it a cargo light like mine?

I know my 9th gen has a 3rd brake light with cargo lights on either side.

Not to change the topic.. But usually when someone tints their windows or tail lights they know their taking the risk of getting a ticket or causing an accident and are usually either willing to pay for it or take the risk.. Ive been driving my trucks with tinted windows/taillights for a few years now and in all honesty my biggest problem is not being able to see through my window tint at night but haven't any other issues lol, besides the fact that if a cop wants to be a he can pull you over for it.

It may not even be an issue over whether the brake lights are visible, or not. The issue could simply be that there is a law against covering your lenses with ANYTHING. In Maryland, it is illegal to have any kind of tinted cover on your headlights, regardless of how bright the lights are. Maryland law allows only white and amber(yellow) to show from the front of your vehicle. Emergency vehicles may show red and/or blue. Your state may vary with what they allow people to put on their vehicles, but whatever the law is where you are, it is most likely for safety purposes. If you can't see the brake lights, that poses a safety risk for you AND those behind you.
