i have seen some taillights that were tinted and they were done extremely dark, BUT they had LED lights behind them ,the ones that sucked had the regular ol' factory bulbs in them .. they are just not bright enough to see from very far away...maybe im getting old but i like for people to see my brake lights from as far back as possible

If you want super black get LED tails. my bro has Recons painted black professionally...not cheapo night shaded...so they match his black paint perfectly. even in direct sunlight the LEDs shine through just as if they were clear lenses.

Yea I'm not sure off the laws. I just painted them with the nite-shade stuff from autozone. I just went to home depot between classes and got some acetone and shop towels. It didn't take me 10 mins to get it all off. Thanks for yalls help

I got a ticket for tail light to dark as well. I had mine painted by a friend so I had to purchase some used ones. $50.00 used covers and a 25.00 fix it ticket, now i have extra lenses incase It happens again or one breaks.

i really don't get why there are tail light covers and head light covers...why would anyone not want to be visible to other drivers who may or may not be an idiot....

I say make them brighter not darker....

Why anyone tints lights is beyond me. I guess you all miss the point that lights are there for everyone's safety. If you tint your lights and someone hits you because they didn't see your brake lights in time you should get the ticket. Tinted lights should be outlawed everywhere as they increase risk of an accident and injury or even worse what if someone dies. Wow, lets increase the risk of an accident so we can make our trucks look cool! Sorry, just don't see the point, rant over

Yeah, you don't want to compromise safety over painted/tinted lights. i hope this blackened-out fad ends soon as people take it too far.

Lets not start an argument like the front-window tint deal.
But, just dont complain about tickets when you know all well it is illegal when you put them there.
And we did learn how to remove the spray tint, that was good to know, thanks.
