Go back to an F150 from Ram 2500?
Hey guys- Thank you in advance for any advice on this long post-
I had a 2016 F150 Super Crew 5.0 previously, I really liked the truck but in 2020 we decided to get a camper, a bigger tow vehicle was required (12k 5th wheel) so changed to a 2019 Ram 2500 crew cab 6.4. A few months ago we decided to sell the 5th wheel as a camper is just not for us (possibly a very small one years down the road). So, now the only thing needing tow is a light 21' boat which my previous F150 towed easily. I'll also eventually get a small enclosed trailer (7x16) one day to haul the family's dirt bikes places. I've found another '19 F150 I like that would basically be an even swap. Issues with my Ram is the short middle seat in the rear and the hump in the floor (currently have 3 young kids and a dog). Other issue is the front middle jump seat only has a lap belt- F150s have a full seat belt. I really miss how nice the F150s drive, My Ram is nice on the highways but it is just a big truck and clunky around town. This is an extra vehicle I use on weekends and family trips, I drive a small commuter car to work.
Does it sound like I'll be asking too much for the F150 and will it hold up using it to tow frequently?
Thanks!

Sounds like you've already talked yourself out of the ram. I'd get back into an F150 as well, no sense compromising on ride quality if you won't be taking advantage of the extra capabilities of a 3/4 ton.

I'm wondering why you chose the Ram 2500 to begin with, as the F250 is better in every way.
Reason I ask is, and I cant believe I am saying this, is if you liked the Ram then are you considering a Ram 1500? I personally would not, as the F150 is a better truck in my opinion. The Ram has its high points though, but I would go F150 any day over a Ram.

You bought a 2019 Ram in 2020. An even trade now (Ram 2500 to F150) is a huge loss of money, especially since you drive a commuter car during the week. Without any mechanical issues, I would keep the Ram and deal with the minor inconveniences. I believe the even trade option is clouding judgement on the financial piece.

Get the F150 with the 3.5. It will tow your kit with plenty of torque to spare. I drive a 2018. But I gave the ram a close second after driving them both back in 2018. Granted it was the 1500 not the 2500. The ride and comfort of the ram were near par with the f150.
But the 3.5 turbo is very fun to drive with good gas mileage. Aluminum body is better as well imo.
The only caveat I would add is the heavier trucks do feel more stable when towing.

Hey man you should definitely get the f-150 2019. Just as long as its similar to the one that worked for you. Plus it should have the new sync system. I don't know about the 16 if it does or not. I hope this helps you out bud!

Other issue is unfortunately most people finance their trucks, I couldn't offer financing and a lot of the private car loans require the vehicle to be purchased from a dealership 🤷

An
F150 will be fine, just watch the payload. With 300-400lb on the ball and five occupants... where will you be when the kids are bigger? Do you plan to keep your next truck for 5-10 years? Will your kids bug and bug you to take them camping? If so, will you grow tired of the tents a number of years down the road and want to get back into a trailer at some point? How much trailer can your truck handle if you've got 1200lb of people, wood and coolers in the truck? Can that much trailer handle a family of five?
