Getting wires through firewall?
I need to bring the two wires for my light bar lights through the firewall.
I spent about an hour trying to find a way to do so. The only thing I could see was to drill my own hole through the firewall. Any other ideas or experience this are welcomed!
Thanks,
Craig

There is suppose to be a rubber grommet that you can cut a small hole and get the wires through. Would not drill a hole. Look around the how to section or do a search to find out where the grommet is. I have read about it on here before.

When I ran a power cable for my amplifiers, I used an existing grommet on the passenger side of the firewall. There was nothing going through it, so I cut out the center and fed the cable through. A small wire or two for lights would easily fit through there.

I must have done something wrong! I had all the lights wired . Happy of my achievement once I closed the hood on the truck, I hit the switch they came on. I smiled then my son yelled smoke and ran to get the fire extinguisher. I apparently wired something wrong. Well sheets... melted the wires, lights and the fuse. Oh Goodness me.

Yikes.
Hope everything turns out ok for you.
Check the wires where they went through the firewall.
You might have nicked the insulation while you were running the wires.
Check with a multimeter before you try again and you might want to add a fuse to the wire on the battery side of the firewall.

I looked at the wires and I think I had the power and the lights switched.
when I turned the lights off is when the fire arose. I had a fuse on the battery line. I did not have a relay . I should know better...I guess after church in the morn I will run and get a new lights harness and some inexpensive lights.

I would ground the switch and run the power to a relay then ground the relay to the switch, that's to much juice to run through the switch. I have two of my sets of lights ran through relay and the third is ran through the factory fog light harness.
