Default Gear Shifting Hesitation

Hi Guys,

First let me wish you a happy Christmas time !

I noticed an irregularity in the way my gears shift. It happen mostly at 90 km/h (56 mph) around 1500 rpm in 6th gear. The engine (3.5 L Ecoboost fom 2011) is hesitating to give more power or shift down (but never does) and you can can hear it. It start building power and stop then start again and stop etc.. maybe the turbo I don't know.
I used to drive standard and at that speed you want to be in 5th gear above 1500 rpm. I feel Ford programmed the truck to stay in 6th so you have a better fuel economy but this hesitation is annoying and doesn't seems right.

For now, either I climb up to 100 Km/h or I manually shift down to 5th to skip this range where the truck is "hesitating". It`s particularly annoying when the speed limit is at 90 ....

I am wondering if this is a recurrent issue and should I have Ford to look into it?

Any clue?

Thx

Hi Guys,

I did further investigation about this issue and went to a dealership. It seems to be a Turbo issue. The turbo would flutter on and off under very light acceleration. At certain ranges turbo start and stop (hesitate) until you decide to slow down or accelerate (basically go away from the hesitation range).

Anyone faced this issue before? root cause?

Thanks

How do I change the title of this post to "Turbo issue"?
People might be more incline to answer if the title is more specific/accurate

Thx

I would go to the 09-14 section. You would have more answers over there.
