I'm looking to get a f150 and would like to know which would you choose and why.
Either a 2001 f150/64k miles or a 2006 f150/138k miles
The 2006 is also 3,400.00 more.
I know the 2001 has less miles and is cheaper but is the 2006 model a better deal because its a newer truck?
thanks

You have a tough decision there. The '06 has high mileage, and you need to know if the truck has been serviced regularly. Service records are a must. If it has a 5.4, have the spark plugs been changed? The '01 has lower mileage, but it is 9 years old. Then there's the body style. Me personally,I was never a fan of the '01 body style and love the '06 body style, but that's only my personal preference. At the end of the day, the decision is yours and it's a tough one. Decisions, decisions. Good luck.

I recently bought a 2000 F-150 with 210,000 miles on it. It was a one owner with all the service records. It is a great running truck and i am very happy with it. I also owned a 2006 I leased for 2 years and I loved the new body style. Just remember you are buying a Ford F-150. I wouldn't be concerned about the 138,000 miles its just getting broke in!

I think you should go with the lower miles. Why pay more for a truck you will need to replace sooner than the cheaper one? It pretty much comes down to whether or not you want to pay more for newer looking truck. If you want to keep your truck for a while go with the 01 and take care of it. If you plan on trading it in a few years get the 06, but let me warn you that trade in value will be a ton less than what you bought it for, assuming you put around another 50k on it. And who knows how much you will spend on maintenance/breakdowns depending on the service record of that 06.
So what I am saying is the 01 will probably retain its value longer due to the lower mileage, but if you want a newer looking truck and you dont really care about the extra cash get the 06. If you dont mind the older style and want to be cost effective the 01 is definitely the way to go.

Locker>Limited Slip
The suspension is entirely different. First you went from coils/torsion bars to struts. The ride on a NBS is more bouncy but produces less body roll. Apposed to a little stiffer of a ride (not stiff, stiff) but nice, and a little more body roll (not good). All in all I'd take my 02 over my ex-girls 05 all day. The ride is night and day.
