What's the point? It probably has a 3500lb tow capacity and would be a pansy. High mileage and trucks just don't go together.

Since Ford isn't planning on offering the Ranger in North America, I think a super efficient F150 would sell like hotcakes. Tons of folks don't tow, and just need a truck to carry a few things that won't fit in the Fusion. The extra gas mileage would be greatly appreciated. Not for everyone, but would be perfect for a lot.

With the ever tightening CAFE requirements, I bet it will happen. The government is even pushing for more fuel efficient heavy duty trucks as well.

there are soon gonna be minimum mpg regulations on semis for the first time....

no doubt it will likely happen. there are plenty of people who just tow a light boat, carry a few sticks of lumber or sheets of building materials, work in construction and have a few tools in the bed, I could go on. some rarely if ever even carry anything a focus couldn't, they just plain like owning and driving a truck.

plus the regulations are forcing ford anyway. I can appreciate that the gov't and branches/extensions thereof care for the environment, but they go about it all wrong and cause even more harm. whatever puts a dollar in their pocket...

I've come to believe what others around here have said: If I wanted fuel mileage, I sure as h_ll wouldn't be driving a 5.0 FX4 SCAB. If you have to worry about the driving costs of a vehicle, MAYBE you should consider public transportation?

Some of us are looking for a truck that we can commute with and still make dump runs, lowes/home depot trips, etc. I don't care about 0-60 times as long as I can enter a highway safely, and I don't tow. I need a pickup for the bed, not for stoplight racing or towing. As the market currently stands, I'll be keeping my '04 until it rots into the ground and getting a small AWD SUV for the wife's commute.

Besides the MPG of the trucks, $35-50K is too damned much to pay for what I use the truck for.

As has already been said, some of us dont tow anything. I use the bed of my truck mostly to hold my golf clubs. There are 2 reasons I own a truck. I am a big guy, and find most cars to be quite uncomfortable, especially since my job requires me to spend quite a bit of time driving from job site to job site. Additionally, we live in an area that was prone to minor flooding (of course, we have been in a state of drought for the last several years), and since my wife drives a small car, we need a vehicle that we can get around in and leave in in the event we need to when the weather is foul. Plus, evacuating for a hurricane in an Audi is probably not the best thing to do.

I would have bought a jeep, as it fits my needs perfectly, but they ride like tanks and are quite uncomfortable to sit in, especially for someone like me with back problems.
