Agreed. If your worrying about saving gas get a car, but I still believe we can get good use of our trucks and still get great gas mileage. That is the only thing my buddies can hold over my head with their titans and Tundras. They get excellent gas mileage. My buddies titan says it never drops under 21 on the highway. I am on the hunt to make my truck get better mpg.

Default Gas mileage with 5.4 X-cab

I recently bought a 2007 X-cab 4X4 with 57,000 miles on it, Leer hard tonneau. First 3 tanks of mixed hiway/city driving gave an avg. of 14.2 mpg.
I added a K&N air filter, Magnaflow Catback, running Royal Purple 5W-20. Did the above changes right after I bought the truck, before I checked the gas mileage.
My .02

I have a buddy with a tundra and he says the same thing, but ive rode with him and he only goes 60, if i only go 60 I get 21mpg too! lol! Plus my ford is 1000X nicer on the inside and out than his tundra.

Default By the way......

I love my truck-Nice, functional and good looking inside and out. This is my third F150.
I owned a 1998 Styleside 5 speed 4.6 L, had it for 118,000 miles with no problems at all. Then I bought a 2002 True Blue Lighting with 22,000 miles on it, and it was a gas! Now that bad boy did deliver some poor gas mileage (about 10-12 mpg) But it was my toy and daily commute vehicle, lots of stop and go driving, but it sure was fun! Still miss it.
So my red 2007 is my first 4X4, and that is fun.
I think Ford builds the best trucks, and I totally agree with the member who suggested that if you want the best gas mileage, get a car!

Best wishes to all;
Mootie

I find it funny when people say buy a car. If people could afford to own multiple vehicles they wouldnt care to save 300 a year in gas.

Most people who own trucks need them to live and make money.

To the OP how fast do you go on highway and was that a hwy or city mileage?
