Default Fuel filter water trap

Looking at the owners manual, I noticed in the maintenance section a reference to draining the fuel filter water trap. Is this something that should be done at certain intervals? Or is this something to be aware of in case a warning light comes on. The manual wasn’t clear, go figure. I appreciate anyone’s common sense on this issue. Thanks!

I don’t, but the Manual references both gas and diesel, but does not make that distinction on that maintenance section, weird.

In my 40+ years of working on cars/trucks for a living I've only ever known diesels to have water traps. Never gas.

Saw that in the manual for my 2018 5.0L. Page 360. Says it's located above the frame rail under the drivers side.
There is also a Note: The water- in- fuel indicator lamp will go out after approx 2 seconds, with engine running.

It doesn't say but this must be diesel only.
