hey guys i think im gonna paint the headlights just wanted to clear afew things up here it goes
1- do i just heat the oven to 250 and put the lights in for about ten minutes then imediatley pry apart ?
2-what would you use to get them apart without messing up the outer shell?
3- how did you reseal the lights when done just set in a bed of silicone ?
4- do you just use black high temp paint or should i use black high temp and clearcoat??

1- yes leave in for about 10 min on 250. you might need to put them back in cause you might not beable to pry them apart on the first shot. but dont put them in for any longer than 10 min at a time.
2-flat head very gently in the groove between the lense and the housing.
3-lowes has black silicone sealant. apply a generous amount!!!! you can always clean it up after it dries but its a pain to add more in a small hole after most of it dries. dont put the headlights on for atleast 12 hours!!! they might seem like they are set but they arent, theyll peel apart slowly!!!
4-i had left over wheel paint from when i painted my rims which i think is high temp. couple coats of that and a couple coats of clear youll be good to go! check mine out in my pics, i did the same mod. good luck!

ok ill have to try any tricks to prying them apart i found that the housing was getting pretty beat up from prying?? also did you just break one corner free and just pull like hell to get them the rest of the way or did you pry all around the light??

thanks for the comment! i broke a side lose then just worked my way around. if you can touch them with your bare hands for more than a few seconds they need to go back in the oven...

i had an 04' taurus i did this to. prying them apart was alot harder than everyone made it out to be. it takes some effort to break the beads. also i scuffed up the plastic a bit and used krylon fusion paint. my dad now owns the car but they still look great. also i did not reseal them with silicone but they dont aquire moisture at all. i may have just got lucky who knows!!
