Front end 2.5" level kit problems
Hi, I have a 08 STX 2WD standard cab. My mechanic installed the KYB 2.5" strut in the front end to level it and now the upper control arms are against the springs. My front end alignment tech, says it is very unsafe due to the amount of stress on the control arm bushings and he is unable to do a complete correct alignment because he can't adjust the camber. My mechanic says KYB designed the strut taking this into consideration and it's fine. I agree with the alignment tech., it does not look safe to me. I can't understand why KYB did not require new proper upper control arms for a stock truck?
Would appreciate if someone can guide me so I make sure whoever installs the Upper control arms, orders the correct parts.
Thank you, Anthony.

One thing I have learned from these forums if nothing else is do not mess with the factory geometry and suspensions of these trucks unless you like having problems and I don't care what generation it is.

Whoa there a minute. Is the UCA hitting the strut at full droop, or with the truck sitting on the floor with full weight on it? It's somewhat common that they may be close at full droop, but not otherwise.
I can't say about the 11th gen trucks, but on the 12th gen, 2" is the max you want to try leveling, anything more on those, it's a crap shoot, I suspect the older trucks that may be true as well.
Is it possible you got a set for a 4X4? How much did it actually lift the front?

When the truck is lifted by the frame, the suspension droops. He is asking if the upper control arm is touching the spring when in this state or if it's touching the spring while your truck is sitting on the ground with the weight of the truck on the tires. The latter is a huge problem since when you are driving you hit a pothole, your suspension is going to drop and if it's already hitting the spring at rest, then something is majorly wrong. Again crawl under and take some pics for us while your truck is parked and sitting on the ground for us so we can help you diagnose.
