Front door to fender seam not properly aligned

Ah I see.
Well, I took it to a body shop for their opinion (this shop guy is super detailed about panel gaps in particular) and he agreed it was a significant deviation. He agreed it was probably an easy fix with some fender adjustment. He's giving me an estimate, but said if it was him, he'd have the dealer make it right.
So I have a call back into the dealership, planning on taking it back there. If they push back I guess I'll check with Ford customer service (they check this forum right?). Just seems like something that should be handled properly on such an expensive truck. Other than that, I'm really enjoying this beast!

That's the plan, I just wanted to have a body shape take a look as well and get an independent estimate. Ammunition in case Ford gives me a hard time.

I showed the body shop guy the door at my dealership and he didn't even think twice about it. Said when can I get it from you. That's what sucks about independent dealers is there is no consistency. Either they are good or they are crap it seems like.

Getting my new 2017 in a few days... Will check that for you. lol
If I were you, I'd really bring it back to the dealership who sold you the truck and get them to fix it. Don't do an insurance claim, because it will appear on the carfax, don't pay a dime for that, because you don't have to...

I would never file an insurance claim for something like this! It's under $200 to have a body shop take care of it, and that will be my last resort. Hoping Ford can just make it right.

I have a very similar gap on my '17 F150. I noticed it about 3 days after i purchased it brand new. Mine is not bad enough for me to worry so much about it. I did look it over really well after that to make sure I didnt see any other bends or cracks or anything else in the paint. It def seems to be something happening during manufacturing.

Just a little followup on this... the dealer cut me a check for the body shop to fix the gap. Took it to the body shop and they started diving into it, and found that there's expanding foam stuck up behind the fender, which is keeping the fender from being aligned properly. They felt the only way to repair it properly would be take the front end apart, remove some of the foam and realign everything. The shop really thought Ford ought to be the ones doing this, under warranty.
Not really sure where I'll go from here. The dealer where I bought the truck basically gave me a couple hundred bucks to go away. It's pretty clear this is a factory construction issue. At the same time, the truck is otherwise perfect, this is a pretty subtle flaw, and I doubt it will significantly affect resale.
Thinking I might take it by a different Ford dealer and have the service department look at it just to know what my options are.

No offense to you, but your dealership sucks. Mine had this all fixed up in a couple hours. It's a warranty issue that the dealership should fix. Try another one.

Picked up my 2017 (built in Kansas) a few days ago - absolutely no ''gap'' issues between panels.
