i just lost a fried a week ago from basically the same thing. he was driving to the hunting lease on the interstate with his girl and a buddy was following. the got in an argument and she told him to pull over so she could ride with the buddy. he sped off and when they cought up to him the truck rolled into the woods, and he was laying in the road. seat belt may have saved his life, but its too late to tell now. it hard to see loved ones go, but it happens every day. you just never expect it to be someone you know. sorry for your loss man, prayer go out for him and his family

That sucks man. Just yesterday morning I was following my friend and watched him roll. Thankfully he pulled himself out with no major injuries (just a couple scratches). I was so scared that he wasn't going to make it while I was watching the accident. Sorry to hear about your loss..

This accident happened in my area 2 weeks ago. People wearing seatbelts were thrown from the vehicle during roll over. Apparently it is possible.

Here is a scenario for you, the one that happened to one of my friends. He took a corner too fast and the sway bar snapped on his 24V 5.9. The truck went over, another friend of mine watched from the other side of the intersection. When he got to the truck, the driver was in a patch of cedars. His ankle was broken, not from being thrown, but from his foot getting snagged on the seat belt as he left the cab. Since he never hit the brakes or collided with anything, the belt never locked on him. Belts also aren't really designed to keep someone from going up and out, but forward.
Here's another, unexpected load shift. Maybe for whatever reason your load shifts, chain snaps or tie down comes loose, and it takes you over. You'd be lucky if the belt locks, especially in an older vehicle. If you say the load should've been secured better, maybe but what about hauling livestock? They aren't secured, many trucks over turn due to livestock shifting around at the wrong moment in the trailer (pulling a bull wagon is considered one of the most challenging cargos for this reason) and can easy turn a semi or pickup over...

So sorry for your loss, its never easy.
This has been a horrible winter in my area for fatal MVCs. We have lost 8 young lives ranging from 12-25 and a 60ish year old. With another 5 with critical to life threatening injuries all under the age of 25. It can not all be blamed on young drivers as some were with their parents at the time. This has been all within three weeks and is not counting the numerous other minor MVCs we have done.
It is taking a toll on some of our Paramedics and other responders. We are very anxiously awaiting the arrival of better weather.
Please drive safe and wear your seat belts.

These things are always hard to take. When I was in high school my biology lab partners asked me to go fining with them one Saturday morning. I had to turn them down because I had a soccer game that afternoon. Reading the Sunday paper I learned they both died in a rollover accident on the way back from fishing.
In know what you are going through. Be strong.
