Default Buy back offer from my local dealer

I received a letter today from my local ford dealer informing me that they wanted to buy back my 04 F150. Has anyone else received a letter like this? I get the feeling they are trying to get me to trade in my truck to help them move new inventory. Any experience in this area would be greatly appreciated.

I've gotten several letters like that on a few of the cars I've owned. I usually don't even finish reading them before they hit the trash. Strickly marketing.

Yeah they're only trying to get you in the dealership so they can sell you a new truck because yours is "aging". They do that on older vehicles. The only incentve they might give you is possibly a little more for your truck than what they usually would.

About a year ago my buddy got the same sort of letter from the local dodge dealer. Apparently his vehicle was in massive demand so they were offering him big rebates to trade it in on a new vehicle. It wouldn't be so bad but I didn't think a 1988 Jeep with a 4 cyl engine was that big of a deal.

I got one last year on my 04 f-150 and then my Dad got one 2 weeks later on his chevy. We bought our trucks at 2 different places but they were both owned by the same company. It was an attractive deal but I passed anyways.

that's gotta be one of the more stupider marketing strategies I've seen. trucks age well if you know how to take care of them.
