The majority of new car dealers will buy different makes at auction for their used car lot so the customer has options if they can't pony up the money for a new vehicle, it's common practice to keep the customer from going to the competitor. As far as believing a salesman on where a used car came from, I wouldn't unless I knew the previous owner.

Never said I knew your dealer, I work for at a dealership and when you go to auction you bid on whatever you want if you think you can flip it quickly and for a profit, and I wouldn't say salesmen lie but I've learned to believe half of what I see and none of what I hear.

Well, let me chime in here. I sold my 2010 ext. cab Silverado and bought a 2012 F150, brand new. Once I drove the Ford I was hooked. Great riding truck and really nice on the inside. That however, was to be expected. My Silvy was an ext. cab Z71 LT and my new F150 is an FX4 Supercrew with the luxury lackage. So the F150 being more plush was a no brainer.
As far as that goes, I really don't get where the loathing for Chevy trucks comes from from some on this forum. I've owned a GMC Sierra and a Silverado and both were fine trucks IMO. Never had a minutes trouble out of either. In fact I saw less complaining over broke down trucks on the Chevy forum I used to frequent then I do on this site. LOL! Go figure! But I will say right now Ford seems to have the most innovative and one of the best riding trucks on the road, right now. And that I believe is what is hurting Chevy right now. And they know it. I do paintless dent repair and do business with many dealerships. The sales manager of the dealership I bought my truck from said the reason Chevy is behind the curve is because when they started to go south, they fired their research and development department and this probably cooked their goose for the last few years. No r and d equals no innovation. We'll just have to wait and see if they can catch up with Ford with their new 2014 model.
I'm in Louisiana and in the heart of truck country. I have to say it seems with the 09 plus model that Ford hit a home run. It used to seem that this area was split 50/50 Chevy and Ford but the new Ford is everywhere. I for one was never a Ford guy but the new truck changed my mind. Time will tell if this will be my favorite truck I've owned, and I've owned quite a few. 2 Dodge Rams, (don't even ask) a Dodge Dakota RT, Toyota Tundra, my 2 GM's, and this F150. So far, I'm loving it.
So in the end I guess what I'm saying is innovation not reliability is what is hurting GM right now. Just my opinion.
