Wow beautiful truck! That's the exact config I want. For that price I would buy in a heart beat.

I bought end of December 2013 and had 2 or 3 within 200 miles that had 302A, tailgate step, elocker, and bucket seats.

Do yourself a favor, as a "I've never bought new" buyer.

Alright guys, have it narrowed down to a couple options and hoping to close the deal tonight. One question related to my trade in. My dodge that i'm planning on trading has 'rebuilt transmission' that was installed about 8 months ago. Everything is new (housing, internals, electronics, etc). It was assembled by a reputable transmission shop using all MOPAR OEM parts.

Would the dealership see this as a plus or minus? On one hand the trans only has a couple thousand miles on it but on the other hand I can see them being concerned because it wasn't done by a dodge dealership. It has a 1yr parts and labor warranty and a 3 year parts warranty from dodge and I have all the documentation to support this.

Thoughts?

I guess this depends on the manufacturer, too. When I bought my DD Nissan, not only did I get $4,000 off MSRP, I also got 0% over 72 months. I really only wanted to finance for 60 months, but the interest rate was 1.9%. So I did the only sane thing... went for the 72 months and got $4k off MSRP.

I'd be willing to bet that the dealership would be more likely to hold a rebuilt transmission against you on trade-in value, yet use it as a selling point when they resell your truck.

I sold my truck privately and felt that disclosing the rebuilt transmission was the right thing to do. I would feel no such obligation when trading a vehicle in though, so I probably wouldn't mention it at all. The documentation you have will never make it into the next owners hands at any rate.

Right now:

PenFed - 1.49% for 36 months, 1.99% for 48 months, 2.49% for 60 months.

Assume a $50,000 4 year loan at 1.99%. Interest over that loan would be $2,058.

Of course, many people trade in a vehicle or put a downpayment as they cannot afford a monthly payment over $1,000.

Assume a $30,000 5 year loan at 2.49%. Interest is $1,937.

Again, the 0% almost never pays off.
Thanks for all of the replies!

So I've gone to the dealership 3 times now and was unable to find truck with the exact configuration that I want. Since this is a large purchase for me and I plan to drive the truck until the wheels fall off I have decided to order from the factory so I can get everything that I want and nothing that I don't.

The salesman said 6-8 weeks to be conservative but he sees a lot of people get their truck in 4. That concerned me because the current incentives end 7/5 but he assured me that they will honor the current incentives in place regardless of when I take delivery AND if the new incentives are better upon delivery I can elect to use those instead so on paper it can only benefit me. Is this possible?

I have no reason to think he is lying. He has never pressured me into buying anything and the dealership itself has nothing but excellent reviews online which is why I went there, but seems contradictory to what I've read online. Also, he has been very upfront about pricing and gave me a fair quote for my trade. Without even negotiating he said I'd be right at 40k for the following.

Total MSRP = $52,975
- Screw, 4x4, short box
- 3.5 EB
- 302a w/ sport appearance package
- FX4
- Max towing package
- Spray in bedliner
- Towing mirrors with LED spotlights
- Twin panel moonroof (this is what's making the search difficult)

Thoughts?

Trucks are a dime a dozen. As long as you're not in a hurry - wait for the truck you want and the deal you want. Be prepared to walk if they cant come close enough to what you want to pay. If they want it bad enough they wont let you leave with out a deal. (The "be back bus" usually doesn't come back). Otherwise you usually wont get the deal you want or options or colour etc that you want. Remember they need to SELL you a truck. You don't need to BUY their truck. It's your money - you're driving the deal. Take everything they tell you with a grain of salt. Unless it is written in the sales contract it doesn't matter and doesn't exist. In the end all that matters is you got what you wanted and a price you are happy with. Everything else is just filling time and space.

Best deals I have seen are around the start of Q4. September. You are right in thinking that as the new year models roll out dealers want to clear out older stock. Ford comes out with the "friends and family pricing" deal every fall. So far seems to be the best time to deal I've found. As older stock is sold off, yes, your selection availability decreases- that's a chance you take.

I lucked out when I found my truck. It was everything I was looking for and then some. (I didn't really want the big sunroof or NAV but are nice options to have) I was able to determine that my particular truck had been on their lot for about 10 months. Because of this I knew they would be more willing to work a deal to get it off their lot. I had already done a lot of looking and knew what I wanted and what I wanted to pay. With the F&F pricing they gave me about 12k off + another 2k as a dealer incentive. I crunched the numbers and they were about 3K higher than the deal I was about to do at another dealer (that truck was a lower level and wasn't really the colour I wanted but it would do - remember my comment above about getting what you want) Anyway I told the sales manager he was still about 3K high. With out blinking he dropped the price by another 3K so I got a total of 17K off msrp on my truck. It was probably the easiest sale that sales man had this year as I had the truck and deal I wanted with in an hour of my getting there. Sales man came out to talk to me as I was walking around looking at their stock. I told him I was just looking and that if i saw something I would come get him. 20 min later I was in the show room negotiating with the sales manager. Also I refuse to pay "doc fees". I don't care if they "have to show it" on the invoice but then they will take that much off the final price.
Sorry for the long post but I am just trying to show that what I am telling you works.

No worries at all man! The more detail the better. Thanks for the input!
