Hey Rnlcomp,I have the 2014 knocker. And my warranty was extended to 5/100k on the power train. Not a-lot of help as I don't believe I will drive 100k in 5 yrs! So, I think I can ,"recalibrate", to a 7yr/125k and pay the difference? This plan makes more sense for me. Maybe I can do online at ford.support.com or go to a dealer? Thanks
No idea, you would have to talk to the warranty administrator.

2014 knocker
I feel relieved that you hear this also!I have heard this noise in other 5.0L trucks also. But many guys on hear say they don't have a knock. Some say it's due to the 50 state emissions.Ford told my dealer-- It's Normal. But won't say what it is?
Thanks

my 08's 5.4 triton had a faint, consistent knock (aka: that deisel kinda sound) ... and my 14's 5.0 has it too ... but both were VERY faint and only audible at an idle. I never considered that it might be a "problem".
that said I cant recall ever having any engine trouble with any of my Fords ... E150, mustang 5.0 gt, 2 expeditions and 2 f150's ...

What I hear really isn't a knock, it's more of a "clatter", and only under light acceleration.
At idle it's quiet.
Under hard acceleration it has an AWESOME V8 sound!
I just assumed what I hear is normal valve train noise.

2014 knocker
My noise is not valve train. Bottom end knock just above above idle under a load, like driving slowly up a grade.

Tell that to the several people that had their engines, transmissions, wiring harness, a/c compressor etc replaced under an ESP that came thru my shop alone much less world wide.
Your ESP needs recalibrating. Just my professional $0.02 and yes I bought one with my truck for just such an occurrence.
Cheap insurance.

I also had some front end problems in an 08 Chev and some wiring bugs that were fixed with warranty.
I've owned a ton of things where extended or regular warranty helped me out and I wouldn't be without it. It might cost $1000 but your first major repair costs more then double that. $1000 is nothing on the price of a new vehicle and not much on a used one either. It's nice to have that peice of mind.

If your truck makes a noise that concerns you, have your dealer check it out so they can determine if a repair is needed. Once you've had an appointment, report back with your findings. I'll be here in case you need my assistance.
