In my experience Sync by MS has put up walls that make it almost impossible to sync-hronize other electronic IT systems with it ... for example the Maestro system in the hi-end Kenwood systms will not mesh with MyFordTouch and the manufacturer has given up. This in itself, while a bother to me, is even more perplexing when you consider that MS has taken control of my truck.
Those laughing at Blackberry's QNX don't have a clue what's going on.

I will admit that since I flashed the sync in both my wife and I truck's it does actually work as promised, before if I tried to answer a message it would send it right back to me instead of the person it needed to go to and now it directs the message properly, but the bitch is still hard of hearing.

I have issues with her understanding me also but I feel this lies in the microphone placement more than the system. It is above your head in the headliner next to the rear view mirror. I have always felt a better place would have been in the dash facing toward us instead of up above facing down.

Hi,
The mistake/design issue that makes it impossible for us to work with My Ford Touch is that the Sync Gen 2 module is permanently attached directly to the back of the 8 inch touch screen. So there is no way to take out the screen and leave Sync in the car.

The automaker could easily update the software of those vehicles already equipped with SYNC to the BlackBerry software.

Yep but more than likely that will mean ponying up some $$ because you know it's not going to be a simple usb flash and to the dealer you will go.
Or to someone with the same hardware as the dealer. I smell $$$ in my future flashing a ton of cars and trucks in my area woohooo!!! Yes I have said hardware.
