Just replaced my cabin filter on my 2019 F150 SuperCab 3.5 EcoBoost for the first time at 15K miles. Compared Factory Original and Ford Motorcraft replacement. 25% less pleats/filter medium
in the replacement part. I'd rather pay higher price for quality replacement. Anyone else have similar experience with other OEM replacement parts from FORD? A real disappointment and worry moving forward. Filter is a small thing, but what about hard equipment?
How is it possible to have same surface area with identical H/W/D and fewer pleats. Does not make sense to my mechanical brain, or perhaps I have a gear tooth missing?
You bought the Motorcraft replacement. If you had bought the Ford replacement it would probably have been the same. My local Ford dealership used to carry the Ford Replacement wiper blades that are hands down a better replacement than the Motorcraft blades but have been having a harder time getting them since Covid-19 hit.
There is a difference between Ford parts and Motorcraft parts. People also complain the oil filters are different than the original Ford filter when they change the oil on it the first time using the Motorcraft filter.
This makes more sense. I will find a supplier with FORD OEM parts or order online. It kills me not to buy local, but if I have to I will. Thanks so much for the clarity.

The one on the left is OEM. The one on the right is not Ford OEM, it's aftermarket Motorcraft. Not the same thing.
Had you obtained an actual OEM replacement filter, it would look very much like the one on the left. I know because my company produces the HVAC unit for the vast majority of all NA market Ford and Lincoln pass cars, SUVs and light trucks (F150 to F350).
FYI: Your OEM filter was produced (by our supplier) on SAT 02 FEB 2019 on 2nd shift by Line 4 ...

Normally you can go into the parts department at your local dealer and ask for the Ford replacement and not the Motorcraft. I use the Motorcraft in my Mustang and replace it mid summer every year and it is dirty but not bad enough to be plugged so I never bothered getting the Ford. I don't think it was missing as many pleats though. Truthfully it didn't slow the air flow so I didn't worry about it. My 2013 F150 does not have one so I dust more than I do in my Mustang.

About the only places you'll find OEM is directly from the dealership or from Ford authorized sellers.
Removal and replacement was not as easy as the ford dealer demonstrated so when I replace I want it to count. It involves four pieces to remove that have tight clips, two screws(that's easy part) then major heavy tugs to remove, then cover plate. Putting it back is an aquard fit. Took several times to get it right before closing up the job. I will ask for FORD and not MC the next time. Thanks again. Great truck, just learning the tricks.

Sorry...I didn't see that the actual number of pleats was lower...my bad.
