Question Flowmaster 40 2005 5.4 Lariat

I am looking to add an Flowmaster 40 or 50 to my truck. I really want the sound, but want to make sure it not loud in the cab. My buddy put a 40 on his 2010 Lariat and dumped it right around the spare tire, which is what I am wanting to do. His sounds awesome outside and inside the cab. But I wonder with my older model truck if it would be the same inside the cab due to better insulation in the newer models. I am hoping somebody has the same model truck I have and they have added a flowmaster. Any advice would help.

I have a 2005 5.4 with a Flowmaster 40. It does sound great outside the cab, but I admit I do not like the cabin drone. Given the option now, I'd have it replaced with a 50.

Martian, Where do you have the pipes running? I am not a big fan of pipes running out the back, so I thought about turning them done around the axle.

Both dump an inch after the rear bumper on either side of the spare tire.

Did you add the cat-back system or just removed the muffler to add the 40?

The cats stayed. I had the muffler shop to do whatever they needed to do to add a Flowmaster 40 and two pipes out the rear, and that's what they did. Removing the cats is a completely idiotic move.

Thanks Martian. I think I have decided to go with the Delta 40 which is right below the original 40 in sound. I am going to have dual coming out and dump it right around the axle. If the resonation is to loud in the cab, I may go ahead and run it out the back like yours.
