Floor Jack - recommendations

Brain Trust -

I need a new floor jack, have looked at this Arcan after reading online reviews.

It is not a brand I'm familiar with - does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations?

Holy moly, why spend that much? Find a local harbor freight and get a reliable 3 ton jack and two 3 ton stands for under $100.

I have an aluminum 2 1/2 ton floor jack that weighs about the same and I got it a couple years ago from sears for $99.00. $251 is way too much.

2 words - Harbor freight.

The cheap floor jacks aren't what they used to be, even the Sears and Harbor Freight stuff from China. I've read too much of them failing after 2-3 uses. I'm trying to find a brand somewhere between cheap China stuff and top grade professional. Norco brand is one on my radar but haven't decide anything yet.

Don't fear the harbor Freight jacks. I have a 3 ton aluminum one ind it sure nice. I grabbed on sale for $149 and love it. https://www.harborfreight.com/automo...ump-62248.html

I've never heard of a harbor freight jack or stand failing (I'm sure I could google and find one, but these jacks and stands are probably the most sold jacks and stands in America). I've owned many, all my friends and family own many (some decades old) and every one of them act like the day they were purchased (which is a good thing).

Harbor Freight has a lot of low quality tools, but the jacks and stands are made to last

Harbor Freight.
On my Pontiac forum it seems EVERYBODY has one.
I've had mine for about 10 years with not one issue.

I like my harbor freight one too. I read somewhere that the hydraulic nature of the jacks and the safety aspect of the stands mean that there are standards and regulations that have to be met for any product sold in the US. Might not be true but makes sense to me.

Harbor freight, usually on sale 179..this thing lifts the whole side the truck with 35" tires off the ground with ease https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...a9fae9b2fa.jpg
