I've worked in auto body for a couple years and when painting I do not reccomend spraying coats on vertically. It is much easier to run that way, it is generally acceptable to to change the angles you spray such as from horizontally to maybe a 65 degree angle, but vertically is no bueno.

The best option that I have seen is a wrap that 3m makes for the F-150s. I have seen it on the Raptors and I think it sales for about $2000. Plus, it can be easily removed without harming the underlying paint. Or so they say...
