Default Flashing red light on dash near windshield

Hi, I have a 2004 F150 XLT. When the truck is parked , engine off, there is flashing red light that flashes approx. every 5 seconds, located within few inches of windshield, inside. The manual doesn't address this and I can't see that I have an alarm of any sort on the truck.
What is this light for? Thanks>

Dummy alarm light, makes thieves think you have an alarm.

BSM / VSM (body security module / vehicle security module), that's your alarm. Inside that housing is also your light sensor for your automatic headlights.

As others have indicated it is FoMoCo's immobilization system - Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS).
