I have a 95 flareside and I live in N. Florida and I see flaresides like mine alot. the F150 flareside you don't loose as much room as the Ranger flaresides. But I see them around here alot but when I drove up to Ohio a gentleman asked me if it was a custom made bed.

what do you mean by dressed up? like a body kit w/ skirts and stuff and rims. Or are you refering to a lift kit and tires? I personally love the way they look lifted w/ tires. My truck is the same color as this one, I like the stance of this one and this is my goal. A six inch lift with 35's looks great. But I'm just having fun with the 32's for right now.

i have a flarside, and i wasn't too sure about whether or not i liked flaresides, but then when i went to go look at it, i thought it was pretty f***in' sweet. now i love the flareside look, on the older models more than the newer ones though. i live right outside philadelphia, and i've seen about two other flaresides in my year, so the percentage is wayyy less than 10%, cuz i see a million fords in my area.oh and for the lack of space, anyone how has a shortbed can't complain about the lack of space. they are 6 inches longer than a shortbed, and it's basically just like putting the wheel wells on the outside. so you really only lose a couple inches on the inside.

Are they really longer than a short bed?? wow, but I think that they may be deeper than a shortbed but don't quote me on that one. But there is quite a good amout of flareside/stepsides around here a good friend of mine has one just like mine except its green and auto. But there's alot of chey stepsides, more so than the fords around here. Newer flaresides are common but my generation there is a handful around.

i know the early nineties ones are longer, i don't know about the newer ones. on the 2004 and up flaresides i can barely even tell that they are flaresides, it is much less pronounced then the older generation flaresides. they might be about the same size i don't know much about the new ones.

Well thats news to me, but the new ones I think are the same length. I know that they all companies stopped making flaresides/stepsides. what a shame"/ Well you're right, the flaresides looked better all the way up to 96' but then they got a little funny and very unpronounced, they gave them shorter fatter tail lights, and a little bit of curves but thats it.... I'm just glad to have mine

I think now days it's a nostalgia thing, all the trucks from the 20's 30's, 40's, and early 50's had the fenders on the outside of the bed. Then demand shifted to the truck with the most cargo space and that's when they started to fade in popularity.
If your grandpa owned a truck when he was young, it was a flareside.

Just call me sean. Really
I love all the flaresides, they add a lot to the look of the truck. Especially the '04+ which has a massive tailgate and slab sides, add in the flare and it looks much more appealing to me.
I'd love to drop a flareside bed onto my truck, but sadly they only made shortbed versions
