I have two trailers and one of them looks like the one the OP shows in his picture. I don't remember the exact weight of mine, but I will have it weighed the next time I go to the dump.

The new 5.0 looks like it is going to be king of the small eights. It definitely has more manufacturer listed torque and HP than what was listed for my 5.4.
IDK, but by looking at the picture it looks like 3500# axles and 16 to 18 foot to me? It just seems awful heavy for a wood decked short trailer? But I could be wrong?
Here is my 20 foot aluminum w/wood deck and it weighs 1800#.

I am using my 3.73 with 20's mounting 275/55R's (not a towing setup particularly). Some will have 17's or 18's probably with the same effective OD (my assumption)

I've had excellent experiences towing with my 5.0. Boat and trailer are about 5-6k lbs then add another 1000 lbs in people and gear. Here's a pic.

Default Yup Yup

Not that it really matters, but that trailer is what i posted it as, 2920 lbs, its 20 feet not including the tongue and its a big boy trailer with heavy steel tube railing . It was used to haul skid steers, its overkill for what i actually use it for anymore. You can tie off loads straight to the railing and its a mother to deal with by hand Manufacture sales type below...........
Big Pipe Rail, 2 5/16 in. Bull Dog Hitch, Electric Brake*, Lights, Slide in Ramps (2) 6,000 lb. Axles, GVWR 12,000 lbs. Trailer weight 2,920 lbs. TREATED FLOOR

Oh and the post regarding "how would the Ecoboost do with the same load", well IMO it should do even better, you get the powerband of the turbos under load, the Eco just by its stats should tow just a notch better than my 5.0, and thems just the facts fellas, my post was just to give a real world experience on the 5.0 with 3.73's with some good weight behind her, round 7k, which is about as much as I would feel comfortable towing with a 1/2 ton chassis...... All in all after my little towing experience, i dont think your average consumer could go wrong with either power plant, im certainly happy with my choice after my little towing test..... These two power-plants are just generations ahead of 1/2 ton motors 10 years ago, then you throw in the tow/haul transmission technology and TBC's, and you have a sweet little package that 90% of the consumer base will never actually come close to fully using its potential and that equals a safe platform that a family can jump into and not get in trouble......

Thanks for the great info! I still would love to hook up the old EcoBoost to that trailer and do the same pull. Too bad I'm in Maryland.

Your truck looked pretty level, curious to know if you have air bags or anything to help reduce sag...

No airbags or anything, just a 1" level on the front end. Using the appropriate drop in the hitch really helps by not placing the load on the rear end of the truck . Sway bars and equalizing hitches should really be used with these light trucks with loads over 4k-ish.....
