Finally! The answer to 5.0 vs EB debate
#141
Now the 2.7eb is better then a 5.0?!! LMAO!
so since the 5.0 makes its peak power at higher rpms means we cant use it? Hilarious. The 2.7 doesnt match the 5.0 in any HP or TQ stats regardless of the rpms. Hows that 2.7eb engine brake with 9,000lbs behind it?
o thats right, its not rated by ford to pull 9,000lbs.
Whats next? The the EB in a Focus is better then a 5.0?hahahaha.
IKE guantlet test downhill 5.0 required 3 brake applications to stay under 60mph.
3.5eb with 10spd trans had to apply the brakes 10 times. Pure facts there just watch the vids.
Cant imagine a 2.7eb with 9,000lbs behind on a steep downhill grade. I SMELL BRAKES BURNING! But hey, u got to the top first!! Now time for new rotors, pads, and maybe a new truck if its piled up in the guard rail.
Lets stick to facts and not opinions.
Father time will let use know which is a longer lasting platform.

I know horse meat is supposedly tough, that horse should be pretty tender by now.

Try changing your oil.
We have 2015 1 ton Ford Transit van with the 3.5 Ecoboost - BOTH turbos and timing chain out at 114,000 road miles. We are using our trusty 2003 GMC normally aspirated V6 van with 390,000 on it (never had a single engine or transmission problem) while I determine why Ford won't participate more than $1,500 in a $4,800 repair. Was convinced I was going to replace my 2008 Yukon (276,000 miles no engine or transmission issues) with a 2018 Expedition. Guess I'll have to rethink GM. Was told it was the Wastegate actuators on BOTH turbos. When I asked why they couldn't simply replace the actuators I was told that is not standard operating at a Ford shop.
We also have a 2015 F150 with the 2.7 L Ecoboost and the light came on today. Getting it checked out tomorrow. The "Swiss Watch" nature of these little engines has become very pronounced in my mind.
This is the first of many posts I intend to make about one of Fords "better" ideas.

Those 80's gm's if they had the dogbone engine support up top by the radiator, I would take it off and rock the vehicle back and forth in park and set the parking brake when the engine was leaning towards the radiator, getting those rear plugs was a breeze.
Try putting a set of belts on a early Tempo diesel, talk about a bitch to do.

the 2.7 is rated to tow 8500lbs and is objectively faster than the 5.0.
most people don't tow huge loads.
