I had this happen to me one time. Could not get it to remote start at all. When I got in the truck to leave I realized that the gas level was reading pretty much empty. Didn't have much in the truck and was parked on a hill to boot. After getting gas , remote start worked fine again. Coincidence maybe? Not sure, but have not had any more issues with it since.

Had the same thing happen to me after a trip to the dealer. All I had to do to fix it was go into the settings for remote start and change the time interval that it would run during auto start. Once changed everything worked flawlessly. No problems since then. Good luck. Keep us updated.

I have tried everything everyone has talked about. I not sure what to do at this point leaning towards aftermarket.

Question

That sucks. I went to your profile to see what truck you have. I see it's an FX4, and I'm guessing it's new, and you bought it new? Aside from a few issues that are described in your owners manual, It could very well be the control module as elfiero suggested. I think if the battery in fob was low it just wouldn't work at all, no horn beep etc., or distance would be greatly reduced. About the only thing in the owners manual that may apply in your case is if the system has been disabled. That means you need to go into "setting" in your information center and disable it where you set the run time (Off, 5min., 10min., 15min.). It also says if the hood is not closed. Is it possible that even thou the hood looks completely closed, and may be, that it still is not fully down on that hood switch? Or maybe one of the door sensors? But I think that would show up as a Door Ajar thou. Everything else the manual says is obvious. If the ignition is on, trans not in park, battery voltage low in the truck, or the service engine light on. Maybe just for a hoot, open your hood, pull the plug off from the hood switch and jump the terminals together with a piece of wire. Then see if the remote start works. At least it would totally illuminate it. I really don't know where else to look.

Had that happen also, just waited a bit and then tried again and it worked fine. I also noticed that if the fob battery was low then it would not respond as well.
