Default basic tune up

Hey folks, I just joined and have a couple of questions. I have a 1997 F-150 with the 4.6L v-8 and am wanting to do a tune up on it before I go to Montana to hunting camp. What are the basics I should do? I open the hood and can't even see the spark plugs. I've heard some talk about the Mass air and am wondering what to clean there. Thanks guys.

Well there really isn't anything to tune up, the On Board Diagnostic system will tell you if there is a problem. So except for installing a new air cleaner element, if it needs one, an oil change, if it needs one, and Checking the other fluid levels there is just nothing really to do. You are set to go. Good luck on your hunt.

You can inspect the MAS sensor if you want, but be very careful the sensor element does not take well to poking fingers. If you feel the need to clean it make sure you use a spray cleaner that is designed to do this job. However if you truck is running good I would not mess with it.
