F150 vs Silverado

Ford also has a few features I find to be just plain stupid, Blind spot monitors are one, I have that built into every vehicle I drive it's called my neck, you see how it works is I turn my neck and I can see things. Trailer assist, that thing for backing up with a trailer, is another useless thing Ford has come up with. And my neck does a damn good job of that and so do these things that have come on vehicles for a long time called mirrors. 360 view, that's for people that can't parallel park.
And while ACC is nice I also find it cause peoples minds to wonder while driving, not all, but enough to concern me. When it boils down, a lot of Fords top features are really just there for lazy people... And to be honest, while I can afford a $60+k truck, I don't want a truck with those features that I simple would never use, well maybe the adaptive cruise, but only because Fords factory cruise annoys me...

I read about the Chevy ads and just smiled to myself. It's such an unreal use of a truck. Here in the snowbelt, we'll be driving by rusted out Silverados in 6 years. BTW, If anyone knew how to build something out of aluminum, it was Alan Mulally. If you have an aluminum failure in the bed of an F-150, no big deal. However, if the aluminum fails on a Boeing aircraft, you have a big problem. I don't know if I believe it or not, but my dealer sales guy said he just got back from Super Duty training and Ford claims they've locked up all the aluminum alloy for the F-Series for a few years so even if they wanted to, GM and Ram couldn't get enough metal.

That 4.3L is impressive, it makes only 10 ft lbs less torque than the Ford high performance 4.6L 3 Valve V8 and only 7 Hp less than the V8's 292 Hp. The 4.3L rpms on both HP and Torque, are about 100 to 200 less than the V8 even! I'm more impressed with the V8 power out of this V6 than the GM V8 engines.
Unfortunately that 3.5L V6 torque is only 255 ft. lbs. @ 4000 rpms. Good for a lighter SUV as the Explorer but not sure about the F150. Have it in our Explorer and it's a great engine, just not enough torque for heavy towing like the 4.3L.
But that 4.3L was built for the 1/2 ton truck. The 3.7L was built for the F150 and has better torque but Ford put the Explorer's 3.5L in the new F150 for some reason, likely fuel economy.

Perhaps Ford should put this test up against the Silverado and the F150.
