Default F150 vs. F250

Why did ya'll opt for the F150 over the F250? I'm looking at the Lariat and they are roughly the same price similarly optioned though the diesel increases the overall price a couple grand.

I don't think I'd ever tow more than the F150 is rated for which is the selling point of the F250. Nor do I think I'd generally max out the payload. I usually only carry camping gear, dirt bikes, and dogs.

The F-250's resell value is better over 3 years as well. MSRP vs trade in over 3 years is a 29% difference as opposed to the F150 which is closer to 55% (on the diesel).

Do they lease the F250's? I imagine most are work trucks so they are hesitant on this idea. Also..the general ride quality...the truck is heavier but so is the suspension. Which is more comfortable lightly loaded?

Over 45k, it's only a $1200 in fuel difference between the HD diesel vs the 3.5eb motor.

Unless you are towing over 10000, you don't need a 250.

$110-130 per oil change every 7500-10K miles, $161 every 15K miles to change the fuel filter, plus $7-9 every 5k or so for DEF. The more miles per year driven, the higher the costs are. This is reason #1 why I still drive an F150 instead of an F350, why buy an F250 when for less than $1000 more you can get a 1 ton.

I assume you're talking dealer pricing. If so, the EB engines are the same cost for oil changes with the service plans offered through FORD. The fuel filter is probably cheap and easy to do by hand (much like the oil change). I imagine the 350 is a pure towing machine as opposed to the 250 is more versatile/DD friendly. $100 every 100k for DEF is hardly anything compared to the $100/tank of fuel.

People choose F150 because it gets better MPG, better chance of fitting their garage, they don't tow/haul something serious every week and don't want to be driving a dump truck in terms of ride quality on the daily.

My next truck will be a F350. I only tow 6500 lbs, but want the payload a F350 offers so I can carry more on the truck. I also want a crew and 8 ft bed....However, a diesel isn't on my radar. I want a gas motor and 4.30 gears.

Since I have a F150 that can move almost everything I need it to I don't need the Bigger Payment every month, the $75 oil change with me doing it every 7500 miles if I did opt for the diesel or the second the thing is out of warranty you have to replace the Federally mandated Engine choker, I mean Emission controls..
If I have something really big to move I can get the F550 from Work with the 25 foot Goose neck, bigger than that I can borrow a Mack truck with a 53 Van or Flatbed.
I do not need something bigger than what I haul, not cost effective to haul a car behind a 750 HP Peterbuilt on a 150 ton trailer when you can do it with a pick up and car hauler.
BTW, I do use my truck for work and it is big enough for what it is used for and the newer F150's have a high GCWR than my 87 F250 could even think of as well as my 6.2 having twice the HP and torque of the F250's 7.5 and I have doubled my gas mileage

i bought an F150 because i don't tow anything and have no need for a 250 or larger truck. my truck is my DD and used for weekend Home Depot runs. FMC only does commercial leases on the super duty's, not persoal. i'm sure you could get an outside lender to do a personal lease on one if thats what youre looking for.

Most F-150s aren't going to tow anywhere near 10,000 pounds due to maxing out payload. Discussed often in the Towing section of the forum.
