Default Buyer Beware of Ford Customer Service

I am looking for any advice. I have a 2011 that has been at the Dealer for 4months waiting for a inner rocker panel. ETA as of today is still unknown, best guess is going to be a long time is what I was told. I do have to say the dealer has been great at keeping me in the loop but Ford has not even acknowledged me period. I have called the consumer phone line to see if I could get a truck loaner and was told For does not give loaner for warranty body work. I went online about 2 weeks ago and filled out a consumer complaint form to get a response as to what is going on still nothing . I even email the CEO of Ford to see if he could shed some light or maybe light up the vendor to make the parts, still dead air Nothing. The dealer told me today that the options they think I have because no parts are maybe clean up the inner rocker of rust , seal it then install outside panel. I don't like that too much rust always comes back. Second we can get a part from a wrecked truck somewhere in the south with no rust and install that or I can trade it in. The dealer gave me a the numbers in trade and they were fairly good but they are not getting any help from Ford . I just don't understand big companies making crap or having this kind of problem and expecting everybody else to eat there mistakes and problems. I drove the new truck today and I like it but I am having a real problem wanting to give Ford any more of my money and loyalty. I have had many new Ford trucks and cars and just don't feel it's right. Any Ideas as to what to do? Just thought I would vent a little to get the BP down a bit and let people know how badly Ford treats people.

Spit balling this but is there an aftermarket made panel for this? I have had luck in getting exception one time on a old Ford Focus I had in getting Ford to approve an aftermarket body panel installed under warranty due to a long lead time in getting a replacement OEM. Had a decent district rep for my area that went to bat for me on this.

I would not settle for a potential ill fitting aftermarket piece, nor would I settle for a used part, unless it was a temporary fix until the new part is available.

You've done all the right things. Maybe a call to your local news to see if they have a "action reporter" that will pick up on this, and give it some news time? Sounds like the dealership is on your side and helping though.

Four months is outrageous. You have my sympathy.

Four months is insane.

Which dealership is it at?

I'd be getting KARE 11 all over it. Maybe they would find some others who are getting the same crap from Ford. Either way, giving them some bad press can sometimes get things moving a bit quicker.

Many F-150 owners live in Minnesota, including you and me, but not all.

It is up to the dealer to do some leg work for you. The dealer is responsible for putting you in a vehicle to drive in the meantime and they will be reimbursed by Ford CRC. Ask your dealer these questions:

1- What is your case number for parts escalation.
2- Have they submitted a PACO request?
3- Did they give said request and order date to their CRC rep?
4- Ford cancels backordered parts orderes after 60-90 days. Did they attempt to re-order and upgrade to emergency?

Sometimes this will help, but sometimes they just cannot get a supplier to make a quality part. Have ran in to times where this works and sometimes it doesn't help at all.

Jon
(PS - until February I was a Ford service director in Minnesota.)

Also, your title states "buyer beware of customer service" it's not Ford's customer service, my guess is something the dealership is missing or not completing everything to work on your behalf. If you PM your VIN, name and zip code, I can look up your case with Ford still - I moved to sales.

I just got off the phone with a Ford executive consumer relations person that called me from Dearborn ,Mi. . What Ford offered me for my trouble is they are trying to source me a used part. I told her I wasn't real happy about a used part and was told the new part has no eta . I said that the dealer had suggested that I maybe trade out of it and in fairness they gave me a fairly good ,not great offer. I asked the gal at Ford if they would be able to help with getting me out of the truck and she said Ford doesn't do help with that, but she did say that Ford would offer me a 3 year free oil changes and tire rotation. I guess I am going to tell the dealer to put the used panel in the truck and drive it until it needs replacement . I just can't bite on the new truck deal if Ford itself won't put some skin in the game . I currently own a 2015 Fusion also and have had a bunch of other Ford products but I am done with Ford . I will however keep reminding people just how little Ford will do for you every chance I get. F them.
